The Mandarin Lady Mustangs are finishing out their 9th season as a program in Duval county, under 2nd year Head Coach Meghan Braun (5th season at Mandarin), and two senior captains: Laurel Dunathan and Madyson Broom. Coach Braun took over as Head Coach two seasons ago, with the vision of grooming and developing a championship team. Braun brings over 12 years of coaching experience from the high school and NCAA levels. During her coaching career she has developed competitive teams and produced multiple high school Academic-All Americans, National Team selectees, and collegiate level athletes. As an accomplished NCAA multi-sport athlete and current international level player, Braun brings exposure to the sport of women’s lacrosse that the program has not experienced before. She sees the potential and growth that this team possesses to become a powerhouse in North Florida.

These athletes, especially the rookies, have a lot of fight and determination in them. We will only continue to grow stronger.
— Head Coach Meghan Braun

With 5 seniors on the team and a large class of returning players, Braun strategically poised the Mustangs for a challenging season. This season has proven to be one of growth and adversity, as it has been a first with the program playing against multiple cross-county, high-level, and out of state teams. Regardless of the challenges in competition, the Mustangs have battled for every ground ball, goal, and every win. As the regular season is coming to an end, Mandarin is ready to leave it all out on the field for their district playoff, and strive to find the fire within themselves to finish strong.

I’ve loved playing for a team that has such a family aspect. It has allowed us to have an amazing season, even through our losses we have supported each other no matter what. This connection will continue to help us grow as a team and in our skill level as well. Next year’s team will also have some good competition during the season that will help us grow and develop even more. I am excited for what the future holds for our Lady Mustangs, and what the team will be within the next few years.
— Senior Captain, Laurel Dunathan

Good luck in your district playoffs Mustangs!
